Fraser Island
After playing host to some major international events in the 1980's, Brisbane has developed into a lively, cosmopolitan city with interesting districts, good street-café scene, great parks and an excellent climate. Although close to the coast, Brisbane is very much a river city, surrounded by hills and fine lookouts with several impressive bridges spanning the Brisbane River.

Extension Ideas
Brisbane Sights & River Cruise
See the historic buildings of Brisbane before boarding the historic 'MV Miramar', for a leisurely cruise along the Brisbane River. Morning tea is included as you cruise upstream arriving at Lone Pine.
Time for a visit to the sanctuary (own expense) or enjoy the subtropical surroundings before reboarding the coach and travelling to Southbank Parklands. Visit the Australian Woolshed.
Fraser Island Day Tour
En route to Fraser Island pass the Glasshouse and the old mining town of Gympie. You may see the wild dingoes that have made this island wilderness their home. Stroll along the palm and fern studded banks of Wanggoolba Creek, the most outstanding rainforest area on Fraser Island. Return to the southern end of the island via the island road past evidence of the old sand mines. Ferry back to the mainland.
Gold Coast / Lamington National Park
Travel to the Gold Coast via the Tambourine Mountains - the Gold Coast's best kept secret - a vast region of mountains, National Parks, subtropical rainforests, valleys and rolling plains. From the mountain you look over a spectacular vista of the scenic rim - the high rises of Surfers Paradise and along the coast from Coolangatta to Moreton Bay.
At Tambourine village you can stroll through the many shops and galleries on the Gallery Walk and enjoy morning tea at one of the many coffee houses. Our drive to Surfers Paradise is via some of the most spectacular scenery Australia has to offer.
We stop lunch (a la carte) at the Marina Mirage. This area boasts some of the most luxurious boating and yachts in Australia. After a sumptuous lunch we travel through the exclusive areas of Sovereign Islands and Sanctuary Cove to catch a glimpse of the homes and lifestyles of some of Australia's rich and famous.
