Alice Springs to Ayers Rock

Red Centre
Self Drive Itinerary
Day 1. Arrive Alice Springs.
Welcome to "The Alice", gateway to The Red Centre. On arrival, collect your vehicle, and explore the MacDonald Ranges and The Old Telegraph Station.
Overnight Alice Springs
Day 2. Alice Springs to Kings Canyon.
Approx. 317kms (197 miles) 6 hours.
Depart Alice Springs this morning and travel west along Larapinta Drive Kings Canyon via Standley Chasm and Simpsons Gap. Spend the late afternoon walking through the base of the Canyon, or for those who are fit why not climb to the rim of the Canyon for spectacular views.
Overnight Kings Canyon.
Day 3. Kings Canyon to Ayers Rock.
Approx. 302kms (187 miles) 4 hours.
In this region of the Northern Territory, you will be inspired by some of Australia's most significant natural attractions, the most famous of all being Ayers Rock/Uluru. West of Ayers Rock Resort is Mt Olga, a collection of weathered red domes, the tallest of which stands 200 metres taller than Ayers Rock. At sunset, the Olgas hold their own light show to rival the Rock's - both inspiring, but individually unique.
For experienced walkers, the Olgas offer a four to five hour walk through the poetically named Valley of the Winds, winding around several of the domes. For an easier walk with great views taking only an hour or so, go to Olga Gorge (Tatintjawiya). Overnight Ayers Rock.
Day 4. Ayers Rock.
Drop off your vehicle and depart Ayers Rock your next stop.
Price Includes: Accommodation for 3 nights with private facilities, Hertz Group C car rental with unlimited kilometres, mandatory vehicle insurance (see page 92), Goway's co-pilot kit of goodies (maps and directions), Goway Sydney toll free Australia wide assistance line.
Note: This tour is also available in a 5 Day 4WD option.
