Snowy Mountains and Southern Beaches Selfdrive Itinerary
Self Drive Itinerary
Day 1. Sydney to Canberra.
Approx 295 km (183 miles).
Drive to Canberra via Mittagong and Goulburn. Planned by Walter Burley Griffin in 1913, Canberra is a picturesque city built on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.
Day 2. Canberra to Cooma.
Approx 114 km (71 miles).
Perhaps spend some of the morning exploring Canberra. Follow the Monaro Highway to Cooma. Cooma is the gateway to the Snowy Mountains and it is also the administrative centre of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme.
Day 3. Cooma to Batemans Bay.
Approx 254 km (158 miles).
Follow the Snowy Mountains Highway through Bega to Batemans Bay. Today it is a popular holiday town and is located on the Clyde River estuary, at the foot of Clyde Mountain.
Day 4. Batemans Bay to Sydney.
Approx 285 km (177 miles).
Via the coast. Drop off your rental vehicle.
