Self Drive Itinerary
Day 1. Arrive in Hobart and collect your rental vehicle.
Remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Hobart.
Day 2. To Strahan.
Approx 298 km (185 miles), 3.5 hours.
Travel north west, bound for Strahan. Along the way enjoy a stop at the historic towns of New Norfolk or Queenstown. Continue on to the fishing village of Strahan. Franklin Manor
Day 3. Strahan to Cradle Mountain.
Approx 150 km (93 miles), 2 hours.
This morning, travel north to the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park area. Covering some of Tasmania's highest country, the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, with its many lakes and mountain peaks, is famous for its magnificent alpine scenery. (2 nights)
Day 4. Cradle Mountain.
Day at leisure to explore Cradle Mountain. You may like to relax or do one of the many walks the lodge has to offer.
Day 5. Cradle Mountain to Launceston.
Approx 157 km (98 miles), 2 hours.
Depart Cradle Mountain and travel east to Launceston. Along the way travel through Deloraine and Westbury. Prince Albert Inn (2 nights)
Day 6. Launceston.
Spend time today walking through Launceston's history.
Day 7. Launceston to Swansea.
Approx 295 km (183 miles), 3 hours.
Today takes you east via St Helens and Bicheno. From the sand dunes of St Helens Point through the Chain of Lagoons, Bicheno, and Freycinet National Park, the east coast is a ribbon of breathtaking beaches, granite outcrops and deserted coves - sometimes peopled, never crowded - edged by an underwater wilderness. Day 8. Swansea to Hobart.
Approx 285 km (177 miles), 3 hours.
