For “train buffs” there are many exciting rail trips around the world that can be included in travel itineraries. The imposing presence of the Andean mountain range makes Latin America home to some of the most exhilarating and spectacular train journeys anywhere in the world. But you do not have to be a train buff to enjoy some of the great train journeys that Goway offers in South America. Some are pure luxury like the Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu; some are pure adventure like the Train to the Clouds in Argentina, and some are luxurious with a dash of adventure like the Andean Explorer from Cusco to Lake Titicaca or v.v. Below is a listing of some of the exciting rail journeys Goway offers in South America.

Guayaquil to Quito (or vv) - It’s easy to fly between Guayaquil and Quito, but a beautiful 4-day train trip is really the best way to see Ecuador. Traversing the famed ‘Devil’s Nose’ section of track, the journey is equally spectacular in either direction.

Machu Picchu by train, 2 days - Journey in comfort by train from Cusco to Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas”. The ruins found there are some of the most famous and most beautiful ancient sites in the world. The most popular train is the Vistadome with glass ceilings but why not consider the ultimate luxury journey on board the Belmond 5 star Hiram Bingham train!

End of The World Train - Ushuaia - Like the city of Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, the End of the World Train ride is the world's most southernmost train. Built on the backs of the convicts who were imprisoned in Ushuaia, it is a testament to the fortitude of the city's very first, though indentured, citizens. The railway station is 8km from the city inside the Tierra del Fuego National Park. The train dissects and travels around the shores of the many lagoons and rivers within the National Park.

Belmond Andean Explorer - Andean Plains & Islands - Tour Peru’s most scenic regions, enjoying the opulence of the country’s first luxury sleeper train. Set out from the white city of Arequipa, taking in Lake Titicaca before disembarking in historic Cusco.

This 3-day train journey travels from Arequipa, Peru’s famous white city, to Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire, via Lake Titicaca. The journey is considered one of the top ten rail trips in the world. Though it weaves through the harsh environment of Peru’s beautiful Altiplano, you’ll enjoy some of the best cuisine and overnight luxury the country has to offer. Finally, travel back through more of the Altiplano until you reach Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire and gateway to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
