What language is spoken in Taiwan?

The primary language spoken in Taiwan is Mandarin Chinese. Both standard Mandarin and Taiwanese Mandarin are widely spoken.

Is English spoken throughout Taiwan?

English is taught in schools and is spoken by much of the population

What currency is used in Taiwan?

The official currency used in Taiwan is the New Taiwan Dollar(NT$). Major international credit cards are also accepted at most hotels, upscale shops and restaurants.  

Do I need a Visa to travel to Taiwan?

Both Canadian and American passport holders do not require tourist or business visas for stays of up to 90 days.

Is WiFi readily available?

Internet access is excellent in most major cities. 

Can I use my cell phone in Taiwan?

It is possible to purchase a SIM card on arrival. But, we suggest you check with your cellular provider to know what your options are. You might be able to get an affordable roaming plan.   

Is it safe to drink tap water?

It is strongly advised NOT to drink tap water in Taiwan. It’s best to stick to boiled, treated or bottled water. 

What are the public bathroom facilities like?

Western-style flushing toilets are common in Taiwan but public washroom facilities can be difficult to find in large cities.

When is the best time to visit Taiwan?

Taiwan is warm year round and the best time to visit is from October to April when weather conditions are generally dry and warm, and temperature ranges from 16 to 25 Celsius. Spring is also it’s a rainy season from March to May, remember to carry an umbrella at all times. The summer months are from June through to September with its typhoon season.

Is Taiwan a family-friendly destination?

Taiwan is definitely a family-friendly destination with many outdoor activities that will keep kids interested and engaged. Some of these activities include a visit to some of the top temples in Taiwan, the Taipei Zoo with its Giant Panda House, Taipei water park, and many fun-filled theme parks and trailing through beautiful National Parks. We can create a custom itinerary based on your family's interests.  

How welcoming is Taiwan to LGBTQ travellers and families?

Taiwan is the first Asian country that legalized same-sex marriage on 17 May 2019. The official Pride Parade is held every year in Taipei and it has some of the most popular gay bars and clubs. Taiwan becomes an international LGBTQ travel destination and gay travellers should feel encouraged to visit.
