Australia Weather

  • Crystal clear skies
  • Sunset over central Australia
  • The sky as blue as the water
  • Dawn in the derby mudflats

Located in the southern hemisphere, Australia’s seasons are opposite to those found in the northern hemisphere.

Spring: September-November
Summer: December-February
Fall: March-May
Winter: June-August

Due to the sheer size of the continent, weather in Australia varies significantly depending on where one travels. The north is made up of tropical regions which results in high humidity and set wet and dry seasons. The wet season runs from December to March with temperatures ranging from 30 - 50 degrees celsius. Due to the high humidity and rain, flooding can happen. The dry season runs from May to October with temperatures averaging around 20 degrees Celsius.

Central Australia is made up of dry, desert regions with high daytime temperatures, but low rainfall. In the south, a temperate region exists with moderate rainfall and ranging temperatures depending on the season. In summer months, average temperatures are 30 degrees celsius while it can dip to 15 degrees celsius in winter months.

Like other continents, the temperature in Australia changes with the seasons, however, the lowest temperatures aren’t quite as drastic or comparable with other continents. Thanks to relatively few high mountains and warm oceans surrounding it, Australia’s climate and weather make for an enjoyable all-year destination.
