Best Time to Visit Ecuador

Because of the differences in altitude of various destinations in Ecuador, the climate is very varied. However, there are no extremes of temperature. There is no real summer and winter in Ecuador, therefore the country’s cultural attractions can be enjoyed at any time. On the coast, the dry season from late May and June to November is unpleasantly cool, muggy and overcast. December to April is the best time to visit the Ecuador coast. When it is warmer and rain falls in short tropical bursts in the afternoon. The warmest and driest months in Quito and the high ground are June to September though this is complicated by various microclimates found in some areas. Prices will be better in the off-peak seasons which are from February to April (except for Easter) and in September, October and November.

The Galápagos climate consists of hot, sunny days interrupted by the odd heavy shower from January to June, and dry and overcast weather for the rest of the year. Seasons are divided into cool and dry (June to November) and warm and wet (December to June), with the warmer season being the best time to visit the Galapagos for warmer, calmer seas and good underwater visibility. June, July, August and September and late December to January are peak tourist seasons in the Galapagos.
