Tipping
Tipping is not mandatory in Nicaragua but is welcome. It is not uncommon for restaurants to add a voluntary tip of 10% gratuity, so be sure to check your bill. Tipping etiquette is similar to that in Canada and the US of 10-15% for bartenders and waitresses, $2-5 for tour guides dependent on the size of the group, and $1-2 dollars for hotel staff like doormen and housekeeping.
