What language is spoken in the Czech Republic?

The official language spoken in the Czech Republic is Czech, it is spoken by 96% of people in the country. The primary minority languages spoken are Slovak and Polish. 

Is English spoken throughout the Czech Republic?

English is not widely spoken in the Czech Republic. In large cities, such as Prague, and in tourist areas, the locals will speak English. However, if you venture to the smaller towns of Czech Republic, it is unlikely you will encounter anyone who speaks English.

What currency is used in Czech Republic?

The Czech koruna (crown) is the official currency of the Czech Republic. Major credit cards are accepted in large cities at most hotels, shops and restaurants, but many places outside of Prague do not accept credit cards. It is important to always carry cash on you when travelling here. ATMs are available in Prague, but less common outside of the city.

Do I need a visa to travel to Czech Republic?

A visa is not required for citizens of Canada or the United States for stays less than 90 days in a 180-day period. A condition pertaining to Canadian citizens is that their visit must be non-profitable.

When is the best time to travel to Czech Republic?

The Czech Republic experiences a continental temperate climate, meaning there are 4 distinct seasons which include hot and humid summers and cold winters. Summers are considered to be the busiest time of the year with high tourist volumes, crowds and long lines. With that in mind, the best time to visit is during the shoulder season in the late spring or early fall when the temperature is warm, crowds are minimal, and conditions are perfectly conducive to hiking and other outdoor activities. Outside of Prague, the most efficient way to travel is by bus or train that operates between the rest of the regions. Renting a car is also a common choice for those looking to explore a wide variety of areas in the Czech Republic. This method gives you the ease of travelling at your own pace and at your own discretion.

Is Czech Republic a family-friendly destination?

Czech Republic is a must for those considering a family vacation. To start, Prague, being the largest and most populated city in the country, has plenty to offer including stunning architecture, fortified castles and sculptures. There is also a wide array of parks in Prague that offer beautiful city views, river gorges and playgrounds for you and your family to enjoy. Outside of Prague consists mainly of countryside landscapes and opportunities to explore rural areas. There are many small towns, each with its own unique architecture and attractions. If you have a family that enjoys nature and the outdoors, then Bohemian Switzerland National Park is a wonderful area to explore. There are lookout points that offer incredible views and plenty of areas for kids to run around and discover the sandstone rock formations that exist there.
