Best Time to Visit Ireland
When planning a trip anywhere, we always consider what the weather is going to be like because we need to know what to pack beforehand and what to wear when we are at our destination. In the case of Ireland, the climate can vary and therefore there are a few things to consider when deciding when is the best time to visit for Ireland vacations.
Ireland has been called the “Green or Emerald Island” and this may cause you to think it rains all the time. This can happen but it doesn’t last long and the sun can come out at any time. The sunniest region is the extreme southeast. The climate in Ireland is fairly temperate which makes it a year-round destination. It can be cool at night, even in the summer. Rain is consistent throughout the year so always take an umbrella or raincoat. You will need a warm coat in the winter. Snow is uncommon and temperatures in winter rarely drop below freezing. July and August are very warm but rarely hot. No part of the country is more than 110 kilometres/70 miles from the sea which means temperatures don’t vary from place to place particularly. However, parts of the west of the country are twice as wet as the east because of the prevailing Atlantic winds.
Another consideration for when to visit Ireland is what is happening. In March, there is St. Patrick’s Day, and Celtfest, a festival of Celtic music. In September, there is the Dublin Fringe Festival and in October, there is the Cork Folk Festival.
