Social Conventions
Latvians are very polite and hospitable but can seem rather reserved at first. As such, shaking hands is the most common greeting. They are also very direct with their speech and communication in general. The Latvian national identity is incredibly important to the population and should therefore be respected by visitors.
Religion
Lutheranism is the main religion in Latvia with a sizeable Roman Catholic population in Eastern Latvia. The third largest religion represented in the country is the Latvian Orthodox Church.
Language
The official language of Latvia is Latvian, however, languages like Russian, English, and German are also spoken.
