Euro (EUR) is the main currency used in Malta. Visa credit cards are also accepted however it is recommended to call ahead and advise the credit card company of travel plans to avoid hassle while on vacation.

Canadian and American citizens do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days.

When is the best time to travel to Malta?

Malta is a very busy destination in the summer months from June to September as this is peak travel season for beach vacationers and tourists alike. The weather is hot and water temperatures are perfect for swimming. Tourist attractions are also bustling with crowds. For clients who prefer fewer crowds and more pleasant temperatures, it is recommended that Spring time from May to June is ideal. Many North Americans also escape to Malta during the winter months. Though temperatures are cooler from November to March, they are still much warmer than North American winters. Malta offers many long-stay packages at their beach resorts for those looking to escape the frigid winter temperatures.

How is the transportation within Malta?

As Malta is made up of many different islands, ferry and boat travel to get between islands are very common. Depending on the island you are on, you can easily walk or take a city to get around. Larger islands such as Gozo have a public bus system that is also common.
