Social Conventions
Casual clothing is the norm in Brazil due to the hot temperatures. The usual greeting between men is shaking hands, however, in informal settings, kissing women on both cheeks is normally practiced. As almost three-quarters of the population follow the Roman Catholic faith, the Catholic church is very revered and visitors should respect that.
Language
The official language of Brazil is Portuguese, however, Spanish, English, Italian, French and German are also spoken. Indigenous languages include Gê, Tupi-guarani, Aruak and Karib.
Religion
Brazil has no official religion, however, 74% of the population are followers of the Roman Catholic faith. Due to the size of Brazil and its large population, many religions, including indigenous beliefs, are practiced.
