There are 11 items on this tray including mint tabbouleh and a plantain and green banana salad, Sweetwater marinated prawn tails and coriander marinated mushrooms.

An alternative or in addition to the cold mezze are Warm Kemia such as Minced Herbed Kofta in Capsicum and Tomato Sauce, Coconut and Lemongrass Marinated Chicken Sate, and Plantain, Chili and Polenta Fritters, or a Terrine of Marinated Wild Boar with Cumberland Sauce.

The River

For guests with an appreciation for adventure, the Zambezi is Africa's playground. Guests may view Africa's Big Five on a cruise up the river, up close from a private Land Rover, or even take in the scenery from the elevated perspective of an Elephant's back. Keen sportsmen can pit their wiles against the legendary Tigerfish, or test their nerves against the mighty rapids of the Batoka Gorge in a white water raft or a jet boat. In the quiet evening, you may choose to spend your time in one of the sophisticated bars of the resort or trying your luck in The Falls Casino, and then fall asleep between crisp cool sheets to the sounds of the ancient African night.

Casino

Exhilaration of a different kind is to be found at the slot casino, where a total of 77 slot machines tempt those with a taste for chance. Up to the minute smart-card technology operates the machines. Smart cards give players coinless playing time. The card, having been credited with the amount of money the player requires, is inserted in the slot to be played, and the game begins. Payouts are made on re-presentation of the card to cashiers. A comfortable bar provides drinks, tea and coffee.

Cycling

To allow guests to explore the surrounding area, there are mountain bikes for hire at The Falls Activity Centre.

Swimming

The poolside beckons and the service is  superior. There are a variety of poolside activities at the Zambezi Sun that encourage guests to venture towards its azure blue depths. The huge free-form pool meanders round a pavilion restaurant and an outdoor bandstand and dance floor. An established group entertain guests with soft jazz, blues and impromptu pop music. The pool deck is also the scene of more formal occasions such as cocktail receptions and alfresco dining.

Happy Hippo Club

The Happy Hippo Club, which is every child's idea of holiday heaven, gives parents plenty of free time to discover all the area's attractions. Children enjoy a varied range of activities that include full day or half day excursions to places of interest, daily fun and games and nature walks.

This supervised haven is available to children from 2 - 12 years of age. Children between the ages of 2 - 4 must be accompanied by an adult, or baby-sitter (available at an extra cost), if they are not potty-trained. Baby-sitters can be arranged through your hotel and are also available during the evening.

Staff are specially selected and undergo extensive training in child-care and first aid, ensuring that the child and the parent feel protected and secure.
