Day 2

Half Day Chiang Mai Temples and Traditions

Today, be introduced to the culture and history of the city on this great orientation tour. Head to the centre of town with a local guide and visit Tapae Gate, the main entrance to the old walled city. See the crumbling walls and hear about Chiang Mai's rich past.

Then hop on a pedal-powered trishaw to explore the old town. Visit the Three Kings Monument on the way to Wat Phra Singh, one of the city's most revered temples. See the various buildings in the compound, admire its ancient Buddha image and hear about its 700-year history. Then continue foot to Wat Chedi Luang, an impressive monument that once housed the country's famed Emerald Buddha.

Continue onwards to Chiang Mai's silver making district, one of the city's traditional crafts neighbourhoods. Observe silversmiths at work on impressive murals unique to Northern Thailand and admire their skilled craftsmanship. Then take a short drive to Wat Sri Suphan, a unique temple made from ornate silver.

Following this introduction to Chiang Mai's heritage, culture and temples, you'll be returned to your hotel.

Day 3

Half Day Wat Doi Suthep and White Hmong Hilltribe

Today, be met at your hotel by your guide and venture away from the city centre of Chiang Mai for an insightful look at Thailand's rich culture. Start with a visit to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Situated on a mountain rising high above the city, this sacred pagoda offers fabulous views of Chiang Mai and its surroundings. Walk up the stairs to see the exquisite gilded stupa and learn about Thai Buddhist beliefs.

Afterwards, continue higher into the hills, traveling by songtaew, a local truck. Drive along rough dirt roads to the Chang Khien Coffee Research Project. Enjoy a fresh cup of locally-grown Arabica coffee and hear about the North's flourishing coffee industry.

It's a short drive onwards to a village inhabited by the White Hmong hilltribe. Spend time exploring the village, meeting the inhabitants and learning about the traditions and customs of this unique ethnic group.

Following this insightful village visit, return to the songtaew and drive back to Chiang Mai. You will be transferred back to your hotel at the end of your day tour.

Main Pool

The 20-metre (66-foot) infinity-edge swimming pool offers beautiful views of the Mae Rim Valley across picturesque rice terraces. On a lower level, an additional infinity-edge pool is for adults only. Poolside Foot Massage service is also available.

Chiang Mai Greeb Valley Golf and Country Club

Five minutes drive from Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, world-class Chiang Mai Green Valley Golf and Country Club's 18-hole 72 par course contours to the natural terrain. Designed by Dennis Griffiths & Associates, the course is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, cool lakes and superb mountain vistas. Facilities include a club house, pro shop, restaurant, bar and a conference room. Preferred tee times and special rates are available for Four Seasons guests.

Dining

Sala Mae Run,savour the unique flavours of northern and vegetarian Thai specialties at Sala Mae Rim, renowned for its sumptuous Thai cuisine. A high teak wood ceiling complements Northern Thai artifacts and sweeping views of the Mae Rim Valley. Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with seating for 46 indoors and 24 outdoors.

Cooking School introduces guests, both novice and experienced cooks, to the art of Thaicuisine. Designed by the Resort's culinary team, the programme offers guests a hands-on learning experience. Famous dishes such as kaow soi gai (Chiang Mai curry noodle soup with chicken) and gaeng hung lay (dry spiced curry with pork and pickled garlic) are just two of the specialties that are introduced in the cooking school's weekly programme. Lanna-stye Cooking Facility

Designed by the award-winning Bensley Design Studios in Bangkok, the Resort's lanna-style cooking facility celebrates northern architecture and traditional design. An imposing stone staircase leads guests into the demonstration, dining and retail pavilions, which complement the Resort's distinctive design.

The Demonstration Pavilion

With rich timber floors, large overhead zinc exhaust fans and huge sliding glass doors, is air-conditioned. It features a large cooking area for the chef, eight individual cooking stations suitable for one or two people, and a large teak working table and chairs that can accommodate all participants.

The Open-Air Dining Pavilion 

Offers spectacular views of tree-lined mountains, extensively landscaped gardens and a waterfall, and is a perfect venue for guests to enjoy the dishes created during the class. An array of essential Asian ingredients, such as lemongrass, ginger, galangal, turmeric and garlic, are on display in the school's herb garden.
