FIRST-CLASS | PRIVATE-GUIDED: Enjoy the wonders this tropical island country has to offer, such as historic Galle, the Pinnawala elephant orphanage, plus tea plantations, World Heritage sites, and wildlife sanctuaries. Sri Lanka is rich in scenery, with pristine beaches and cool highlands, and in ancient culture, with a fascinating 2500 year-old history.


Sri Lanka is a tropical nation and has a multi-cultural society with very hospitable people. There are eight UNESCO protected sited plus many ancient cities and old towns.  It offers a wonderful selection of pristine beaches with the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean and large National Parks plus there is an abundance of wildlife to satisfy all animal lovers. For nature enthusiasts, there are many excellent botanical gardens.

On arrival in Colombo, the capital, overnight and then start your tour of Sri Lanka.

First stop is at the Pinnawala elephant orphanage for a close up experience with its more than 60 elephants.  The small tranquil town of Kandy is well known for the Temple of the Sacred Tooth which contains the tooth of Buddha smuggled into Sri Lanka by a princess in the 4th Century. It is still carried in processions which take pace each July and August.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional cultural show. The next day, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in nearby Peradeniya, an excellent place to see exotic plants and flowers including orchids. Also spend time at a local tea plantation and factory.

Stay overnight in Nuwara Eliya, a colonial hill station renowned in the days of British rule. Next stop is YalaNational Park, a wonderful wildlife sanctuary, important for the preservation of elephants and aquatic birds. One can also see leopards, deer, wild boars, monkeys, ant eaters and crocodiles.

The final stop is at MountLavinia, a coastal town close to Colombo. It is steeped in history and is known for its “Golden Mile” of beaches and Galle Fort, built by the Dutch and dating back to the 1500’s.

Seeduwa To Pinnawala To Kandy

Today drive to Kandy, the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea, making it one of the most scenic cities in Sri Lanka. Here you will visit The Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most respected places for the Buddhist community of Sri Lanka. Visit the town of Kandy and its bazaar as well as the arts and crafts center, a gem museum and a lapidary to see artists who have made items from stones.

Day 3

Kandy To Peradeniya and Tea Plantation To Nuwara Eliya

Today visit the Royal Botanical Garden Peradeniya, a 60 hectare (147 acre) garden which is the largest in Sri Lanka. These gardens are renowned for its collection of a of orchids which includes more than 300 varieties of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palms trees. You will also visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the some of the best tea in the world is produced. You will have a chance to learn about the process of manufacturing and grading tea as well as taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea. Continue on to the mountain station of Nuwara Eliya. Tissamaharama To Yala To Galle and Mount Lavinia

Today embark on a jeep safari at Yala National Park. Yala is the most visited national park in Sri Lanka and covers 979 square kms. It was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900. It is famous for its large variety of wild animals, the conservation of the Sri Lankan Elephants and aquatic birds, as well as having the highest leopard densities in the world. Elephants are the most often-spotted inhabitants of the vast Yala National Park but you can also see numerous species of birds, sambhur, spotted deer, sloths, crocodiles, monkeys, wild boar and porcupines. Afterwards, continue to Galle, the capital city of the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by the Europeans in Southeast Asia and displays the unique blend between European architectural styles and south Asian traditions. Other prominent landmarks in Galle include the natural harbour, the National Maritime Museum, St. Mary's Cathedral founded by Jesuit priest, one of the main Shiva temples on the island, and Amangalla the historic luxury hotel. Proceed to Galle Dutch Fort, situated along the Palm fringed coast line. This Fort is an UNESCO World Heritage site containing an amazing collection of architectural structures dating back to the 1600's when the Dutch first began building. Later, proceed to your hotel in mount Lavinia; a coastal town famed for its "Golden Mile" of beaches.
