Duration
10 Days
Prices From:
AU$ 6,837

FIRST-CLASS | ESCORTED COACH TOURING: Experience Tasmania’s glorious nature and lovely culture on this premier vacation through the heart of the island. Starting and ending in Hobart, you’ll cruise along the Gordon River, discover the majestic nature of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair, cross the untouched Tarkine region, and sample the island’s most famous wines.

This 10-day Australian vacation takes you from Hobart to Launceston and back, exploring Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, and Freycinet National Park along the way. It features first-class accommodations, escorted coach tours, and is a great introduction to Tasmania.

Your journey begins in Hobart, the capital of Tasmania and second-oldest capital in Australia. Experience the city’s heritage charm and gorgeous position in the shadow of Mt. Wellington. A guided tour will showcase some of the city highlights, from the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens to stunning underground MONA (Museum of Old and New Art). After getting your bearings in Hobart, head out of the city and begin your exploration of Tasmania’s stunning nature. Venture into Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, discover mighty Russell Falls, stop by The Wall in the Wilderness, and visit the mining town of Queenstown. In Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, cruise the waterways and discover remnants of convict life and the gorgeous environs of heritage-listed Sarah Island.

Turn north to Cradle Mountain and explore the banks of Dove Lake. You can also head on a wine and cheese tour to experience the bounty of the region. Turn into the Tarkine region and stop off at Sumac Lookout for breathtaking views of the Arthur River. Hike through the Julius River Forest and then connect to Smithton on the northwest coast. Tour the historic homestead of Entally House with its gorgeous gardens and collection of antique furniture and silver. Venture onward to Cataract Gorge to spot stunning rock formations and then overnight in Launceston, the gateway to the vineyards of the northeast.

In Launceston, an afternoon guided tour will showcase one of the island’s most celebrated wineries, Josef Chromy. Discover award-winning wines and learn about the winemaking process. Alternatively, head to Seahorse World or Platypus House to see some of Australia’s most adorable animals or travel back in time at the Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre. From Launceston, venture into the wine region of northern Tasmania, stopping off at Bridestowe Lavender Estate for a distillery tour. Continue to East Coast Natureworld to meet the adorable and feisty Tasmanian Devil.

On the final leg of your journey, head into Freycinet National Park and enjoy a guided tour of Cape Tourville to see the lighthouse and admire views along the rugged coastline. That evening, feast on delicious BBQ overlooking Coles Bay. Then connect southeast back to Hobart to end your vacation and return home.

Consider extending your vacation to see all that Downunder has to offer.
