Arrive Sydney

On arrival at Sydney Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Sydney is located on the east coast of the country in the state of New South Wales. It is one of Australia’s biggest and most cosmopolitan city and an essential stop on any traveller’s Australia vacation. Surrounding the city is a wonderland of national parks, forests, mountains, river valleys and historic riverside towns. The first settlers arrived in 1788 came here to create a penal colony, finding the world’s largest natural harbour, and 70 beaches along the coast within a reasonable distance of the city. In more recent times, Sydney also hosted the 2000 Olympic Games.

The balance of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy before beginning your exploration of the largest city in Australia.

Listen for the sounds of the bush - brightly coloured honeyeaters and brilliant parrots, cicadas or perhaps just the sound of silence. Travel through the Island's most productive country to the north coast. Walk through the bush with your guide - through strangely shaped trees learning what makes that noise, whose tracks are those, and who left that little pile there? Look for small wallabies almost extinct on the mainland, a kangaroo found only on Kangaroo Island and a variety of other birds, plants and animals. Break for lunch at a private bush camp and enjoy a delicious meal featuring King George whiting (local sea fish), fresh salads and fine South Australian wines. At Seal Bay Conservation Park take a private tour with your guide among Australian sea-lions on a beautiful sandy beach - an experience similar to that of the Galapagos. We depart Hobart heading east then following the coastline north. We travel through the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea as we make our way to Freycinet National Park. Freycinet is one of Tasmania’s first National Parks, the area is famous for its stunning coastal landscapes. Colourful granite mountains form the backdrop for secluded bays, pristine waters, white sandy beaches, local
wildlife, and a variety of walking trails to explore the area.

As we enter the Freycinet peninsula, we have a brief stop at the Freycinet Marine Farm for anyone interested in the local oysters, mussels, or crayfish, fresh from the surrounding waters.
We walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout; this is a moderate uphill walk of around 45 minutes. Once at the top you are rewarded with that world – famous view of Wineglass Bay and the stunning
Freycinet National Park. Enjoy the moment, take in the views, and let our guides help you with those sought after photographs. The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of
Tasmania and requires good mobility and adequate fitness. It is 1.3 km uphill, before returning downhill.

From the Lookout you have the option to return to the start of the walk with our tour guide, or for the keen hikers you can choose to spend the rest of your time completing the walk down to Wineglass Bay beach.

Wineglass Bay Beach Walk – This is a 2.5 hr return walk and good fitness is required. Our tour has ample time for you to do the full walk to Wineglass Bay Beach and return. Once on the beach you can enjoy your lunch in this stunning setting, jump in the pristine waters for a swim, or wander along the white sands. This is one of the most rewarding walks in Tasmania to a stunning location. If you prefer to select the shorter walking option, then we return from the Lookout with our Tour Guide and explore other areas of Freycinet National Park. Visit Honeymoon Bay, Cape Tourville Lighthouse & Great Short Walk, Sleepy Bay lookout.

After around 4 hours at Freycinet National Park, we re-group ready to begin the trip back to Hobart. We make a final stop for the day, as a trip to the East Coast is not complete without a visit to Kate’s
Berry Farm. Reward your hiking efforts with one of Kate's delicious Berry Ice-creams, desserts or other sweet treats such as jams, sauces, chocolates and jellies. This is a great way to finish the day before we settle in for the drive home. (** Kate’s Berry Farm stop is subject to changeable opening hours.
