You will begin the day travelling through part of the ancient Aymara territory south of Puno. En route visit the Totora Reed Museum where displayed are interesting examples of reed boats or flowers. Next, you will head off for Chucuito. Chucuito is one of the few ancient sites in the world that is likely to elicit a few giggles. An important Colonial city and seat of the Royal Treasury (where taxes used to be collected) it is also home to a walled-off complex covered in row after row of stone phalluses. Anthropologists have studied Chucuito Temple of Fertility, and have decided, with some debate, that the stones were placed in this order more recently than they were quarried and cut.
