This 7 day introduction to Costa Rica takes you to the famous Arenal Volcano. Then relax and rejuvenate on the unspoiled beaches of the Papagayo Gulf.
Spend a night in San Jose, or arrive a day or two early to enjoy the city’s many museums. Towering above the capital is Arenal Volcano, one of Costa Rica’s most iconic symbols. The volcano has been ‘resting’ since 2010, but its level of activity has turned the surrounding area into a breathtaking ecological environment. Go rafting, horseback or bike riding, rappelling through waterfalls, zip lining or caving. Or just wander through the expansive forest, admiring abundant wildlife.
Costa Rica’s commitment to conservation has rewarded it with some of the world’s most pristine beaches. Spend 2 days at leisure in beautiful Papagayo Gulf. This area boasts many of the country’s most famous beaches and also offers a terrific range of water sports, sailing and rafting options. It’s surrounded by more unspoiled tropical forest, so after rejuvenating on the beach, you may wish to go in search of the area’s many colourful birds and wildlife!

Arrival to Costa Rica
Upon arrival to Juan Santamaría International Airport in Costa Rica, please proceed through Customs, collect your baggage and proceed to Arrivals. Once in the Arrivals hall, please look for a representative holding a sign with your name on it. This representative will lead you to your awaiting private vehicle, which will then transfer you to your hotel. Approximate transfer time is 45 minutes.

San Jose to Arenal
Today you will be transferred from San Jose to Arenal, and along the way you will stop at La Paz Waterfall Gardens, located roughly one hour from San Jose. Stunningly beautiful, here you can walk down trails leading to a series of spectacular waterfalls (five in total) in the middle of the rainforest. During your visit, you can also enjoy the hummingbird gallery, the reptile house, the bird house, the butterfly garden, and the frog exhibit. These gardens and their facilities are perfect for all ages. After touring La Paz Waterfall Gardens, your private driver will continue the journey to your hotel in Arenal.

Exploring Arenal
For this tour, you will be transferred from your hotel to Arenal Volcano National Park. During this gentle hike, you will be able to enjoy the most extraordinary view of the colossus, walking around its base. The hike begins on a trail close to the volcano, a path that will take you through the forest and the area destroyed by the 1969 eruption (now in regeneration process). The whole hike takes approximately two hours and 30 minutes. After the walk, you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak at Tabacon Hot Springs. These springs are considered a natural expression of Earth's inherent energy. Geologically, Tabacon Resort's thermal natural springs are 97% rain-based and 3% magma-based. Rainwater enters the earth through fissures on the surface and is then heated by magma found in the earth's core. Once heated, the waters rise to surface, taking with them minerals found in the earth's rocky stratus.
