Your Christmas vacation begins in Basel, located on the Rhine at the corners of Switzerland, France, and Germany. Due to its location, Basel has long been one of Switzerland’s trade hubs, but it’s more than a city of business. It’s also an art gallery hub, with a bevy of galleries, museums, and iconic buildings that attract art lovers from all over the world. In Basel, you’ll head to the heart of the Altstadt to visit the Christmas market, which is widely considered one of the largest and prettiest markets in all of Switzerland. Cozy up with some cocoa and enjoy some treats in the market. You can also supplement your visit by attending some of the many Christmas events organized by museums this time of year.
The next day, head to Freidburg, a university town sitting on the edge of the Black Forest in Germany. Head to the heart of the town and its medieval Altstadt to find the Christmas market, where you can peruse the over 130 stalls selling delicious treats and seasonal crafts. Warm up with a mug of mulled wine and try some gingerbread before heading back to Basel for the night. On your final day, head to Colmar, located in the Alsace wine region of France. Explore the fairy-tale looking Christmas market in the medieval old town and take advantage of 150 stalls winding through the alleyways.

Arrive in Switzerland
Individual arrival to Basel, host to the grandest Christmas market in Switzerland! Explore the old town adorned with decorations and brightly painted chalet stalls. This medieval city on the Rhine has a very special charm in the Christmas period. The Christmas markets can be found on Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz, right in the centre of the city and at the heart of the festively decorated Old Town. A magnificent Christmas tree stands on the Münsterplatz, with ornaments by the well‐known decorator Johann Wanner. On Claraplatz, the "Sennenhütte" opens its doors again to guests for a fun fondue dinner. Enjoy your 3‐course dinner at the Restaurant Schnabel, one of Basel’s oldest and most traditional restaurants.
Basel to Black Forest ‐ Freiburg (Germany) ‐ Basel
Enjoy a train ride to Germany City Freiburg in Breisgau where the 46th Christmas Market takes place. In the middle of the town center, visitors will have the opportunity to marvel at, buy and enjoy the many crafts and delicious treats on offer at the over 130 individual stalls. Overnight in Basel.

Today you will visit the Christmas Market of Colmar. The old town of Colmar is illuminated and decorated like a fairy tale where the warm Christmas Mood envelops the heart of the town.
