On this small group guided tour, you will explore the remains of the ancient city of Mycenae, a major center of Greek civilization from 1600 B.C. to 1100 B.C. The tour takes the coastal National highway towards the Corinth Canal. After a brief stop, you will drive to the archaeological site of Mycenae, home to the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon. Visit the Palace, the Lionesses Gate and the tomb of Agamemnon. Next stop will be at a traditional pottery factory (optional). After lunch, the tour takes you through Argos, then proceeds to Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece with its Venetian fortress of Palamidi and the fortified islet of Bourtzi (brief stop). Then, continue to Epidaurus and visit the ancient theatre. The UNESCO'S world heritage listed monument is reputed to be the birthplace of Apollo's son Asclepius, the healer and was the most celebrated healing center of the classical world. Epidaurus is probably most famous for its theatre, one of the best preserved classical Greek buildings and still used today due to its amazing acoustics. The tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.

Pass by Firostefani, the monastery of St. Nicholas, and the charming settlement of Imerovigli. Sweeping Mediterranean scenery surrounds you at every angle as you pass by the Prophet Elias chapels, where you stop for a rest and some snacks featuring fresh fruit, a sesame bar and a fresh smoothie. The terrain of the path varies: Some parts are paved sidewalk, some parts are cobblestone, other parts follow just a dirt track. The hike takes around 4 hours depending on walking pace and how many breaks you have.

On your guided tour you depart at 10am from the old pier in Mykonos Town and you return at 2.30 pm. If you wish to remain a little bit longer you can also take the last boat back at 3 pm in order to have some time at leisure or maybe climb on Mount Kynthos to enjoy the view over all the surrounding Cycladic islands.
