Sicily Deluxe: Taormina to Siracusa

Duration
9 Days
Prices From:
AU$ 5,377

Indulge in 5-star deluxe accommodations and discover Sicily in 9 days. Take in spectacular views of the sea, taste regional food and wine and enjoy private and small group experiences. Start in Taormina, see ancient monuments and climb Mount Etna. Then, in Siracusa, discover timeless beauty and Sicily's most atmospheric cities.

This 9-day trip uncovers the island of Sicily on a trip filled with history, wine, and fabulous food. Explore ancient ports, the rich lands of Mount Etna, and gorgeous Baroque towns as you explore one of the Mediterranean’s most charismatic islands.

Begin in Taormina, where a small group food and wine tour gets things off on the right foot. Meet local chefs and sample the local specialties in some of the city’s best traditional restaurants. You’ll discover some of the best pastries and wines in addition to local staples served up in traditional trattorias. The following day, set off on a private tour of the Mount Etna region. Europe’s highest active volcano sustains one of Sicily’s most beautiful regions, rich with flora and fauna. You can ascend the volcano by cable car or 4 x 4 vehicle for a fantastic view. But it may be the food and wine of the region you remember most! Joining a small group, you’ll get to sample the rich local produce that grows in the volcano’s shadow, in addition to mouth watering meats, pastas, and cheeses.

A day at leisure lets you explore more of the region as you will before going on to Siracusa. Here, embark on another food and wine tour with your small group, learning about the traditions of gastronomy in this region. In between delicious meats, wines, appetizers, pastries, and more, you’ll learn about the local landmarks including the Piazza San Rocco, Piazza Duomo, Piazza San Giuseppe and the traditional Jewish district. Then it’s time for a full day excursion into Baroque Sicily, specifically Ragusa and Modica. Both towns were rebuilt in this fabulous style after devastating earthquakes, and Modica offers some extra treats for chocolate lovers.

Enjoy another full day at leisure before your transfer back to the airport.
