MODERATE | RAIL: Many of Switzerland’s most awe-inspiring and best-known mountains are located close to the towns of Interlaken and Zermatt, in themselves, attractive resorts in which to spend time. Enjoy train rides and panoramic views of the central Swiss Alps.

On arrival at any of Switzerland’s main airports, you will be transferred to Interlaken which lies between two lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz for a 2-night stay. The next day, take the Jungfrau Railway to the highest train station in Europe at 3454 metres/11,225 feet. You will have amazing views of three mountains, the Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau. You will also view the Aletsch Glacier which is 22 kilometres/14 miles in length. Return later to Interlaken.

The next morning, you have a choice of two different methods of reaching your next destination. The first is to take the train through the Lotschberg base tunnel to Visp and then on to Zermatt or you can take the train to Spiez and then the Lotschberger panoramic train through the spectacular mountain scenery of the Bernese Oberland to Visp and then on to Zermatt the alpine resort at the foot of the Matterhorn for a 2-night stay.

The following morning, take Europe’s highest cogwheel railway to Gornergrat where you will have views of the surrounding mountains including the Matterhorn, said to be the most photographed mountain in the world. Also, take in the Little Matterhorn reached by funicular.
The next morning, you are free to browse around Zermatt which is a car-free zone.

Later, you will be transferred to any of Switzerland’s principal city airports.
