  • Praslin Island Vacation

After Mahe, Praslin is the second largest island in Seychelles. It is located 45 kilometres/28 miles northeast of Mahe and can be reached by air on a 15-minute flight or by catamaran which takes 45 minutes on a Seychelles vacation.

Praslin is a much quieter island than Mahe and far less developed. With its stunning white sand beaches and lush tropical forests covering its hills, Praslin is an absolute delight. The two principal beach areas are Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette. Anse Lazio, 

on the northwest coast, is possibly the most beautiful beach you will set eyes upon on an eychelles vacation. With half a mile of perfect, fine white sands and gorgeous turquoise waters that are so clear you can watch the fish swim around you, it's no surprise Anse Lazio is frequently called “the best beach in the world”. Anse Georgette is outstandingly beautiful but is quiet and hidden away and apart from being completely undeveloped, there is not a single rock or piece of coral in the bay which allows the white sands on the sea bed to reflect the wonderful turquoise coloured water. 

Other attractions on Praslin are the 18-hole championship golf course at the Constance Lemuria Resort and the Vallee de Mai National Preserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Vallee de Mai is one of only two places in the world where one can see the rare Coco de Mer palms which have the largest seeds of any plant in the World and grow in their natural state (the other being nearby Curieuse Island). There are more than 50 other indigenous plants and trees to be found here. Five hiking trails lead through this primeval, emerald-tinged forest which remained totally untouched until the 1930s.
