Our United Arab Emirates Tours
The UAE is made up of seven Emirates on the eastern seaboard of the Arabian Peninsula and is a destination which will surprise you. It is very safe and quite easy to access compared to most of the surrounding countries. The country is mainly a desert, but cultivation and enterprise have greened a good portion of it. In the hinterland, you will even find waterfalls and freshwater lakes.
United Arab Emirates Vacation Highlights
Abu Dhabi
The capital, Abu Dhabi, is the largest city and one of the world’s most modern. The Corniche is a spectacular waterfront stretching for miles with excellent beaches. Swimming is available at most hotels here, often on private beaches, adding a touch of exclusivity to an Abu Dhabi vacation.
Some of the sights well worth visiting are the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, the sixth largest in the world, the Qasr al-Husn which is a splendid white palace fort built in 1761 and Abu Dhabi Heritage Village. Showing life before modernization, the village includes lush gardens, model souks, Bedouin encampments and craftsmen at work. Abu Dhabi is also a great place to shop with no tax.
Dubai
Dubai is probably the first place that comes to mind in the UAE. There is much to see and do, although perhaps shopping malls and beaches are its major attractions. There is no lack of either on a Dubai vacation.
The downtown area has an amazing cluster of modern high rises including the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, offering breathtaking views from its observation platform. Jumeirah Beach is probably the best-known beach with many International chain hotels offering accommodation.
Also worth seeing is the Dubai Museum which relates the history and development of the city. The Burj al Arab is a hotel rated 7 stars and is a good example of how “the other half lives” with its structure made to look like a ship’s sail.
Don’t for a second think there is nothing ancient here – try the gold and spice souks or walk in the old atmospheric neighbourhoods. There was a Dubai long before the ‘Dubai’ we know today sprang up!
For a respite from either Dubai or Abu Dhabi, try a dune buggy ride in the desert or visit the camel races in the winter.
