Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom and shares a border to the south and west with the Republic of Ireland. It has stunning landscapes and scenery. Since the end of “The Troubles”, Northern Ireland has witnessed an increase in visitors. Attractions include cultural festivals, musical and artistic traditions, countryside and geographical sites of interest, public houses, welcoming hospitality and sports (especially golf and fishing).

Belfast is the capital and largest city in Northern Ireland and has undergone a renaissance in recent years. It is now a vibrant, modern city. Derry or Londonderry ("the Maiden City") is the second city of Northern Ireland and is known for its famous stone city walls which date from the 16th Century and are the only complete city walls in Ireland.

The Mourne Mountains contain lakes, rivers, woodland and many peaks. Slieve Donard is the highest mountain in the Mournes range and also the highest mountain in Northern Ireland. It offers spectacular views from the summit of England and Scotland. The north coast of Northern Ireland has some wonderful scenery which includes the coastline. It has an outstanding natural beauty which is breathtaking. The rugged coastline merges with glens and lush forest parks. The world-famous Giant's Causeway is Northern Ireland's only UNESCO World Heritage site with about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that were the result of an ancient volcanic eruption.  These columns form a path, or “highway”, that disappears under the sea, lending itself to the legend that it was used by giants.
