Dolphins, Sharks and Whales DOWNUNDER!

Dolphins and whales are fascinating creatures and interaction with these beautiful animals is definitely on the wish list of many Globetrotters. Goway is proud to offer a number of travel ideas which will satisfy all nature lovers. Whale watching, dolphin feeding and swimming and swimming with whale sharks are three of the experiential activities that Goway can book. All are exciting and fascinating events and a great idea for both adults and children alike. Here are a few of our top ideas…

Surrounded by crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches and untouched national parks,Tangalooma Island Resort is located on Brisbane’s doorstep, just over an hour from the international airport and is a perfect destination for guests seeking a unique adventure, educational or nature based experience. With four dining options, three bars, three swimming pools and an array of activities guests can relax or be as active as they like. The highlight of any visit to Tangalooma is the opportunity to hand feed fresh fish to one of the wild dolphins that come to shore every night.

The east coast of Australia is a great spot for whale watching.  Humpback whales migrate from Antarctica through to the Whitsundays and some as far up as Cairns from May through November. According to experts, the journey takes up to half a year to complete and ends when the whales need to give birth.  Some of the best areas to see whales are Fraser Island, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine coast.

Monkey Mia is midway up the West Australian coast in the heard of the Shark Bay World Heritage area. The beach at Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort has attracted schools of dolphins daily for over 40 years and in the last 5 years there have only been 4 days that they decided to take a break and not show up! The resort offers over 40 diverse activities, including pearl farm visits, aboriginal cultural tours, sunset cruises plus many more – nearly all nature based and is a perfect year round destination with a sunny Mediterranean climate.

Ningaloo Reef is also on the Western Australian Coast, north of Monkey Mia. This reef is home to magnificent whale sharks who visit each year between mid March and July. Travellers can swim with the world’s largest fish while at the same time raising awareness of the worldwide need to save this species. There are also opportunities to see turtles, manta rays, dolphins and dugongs.

Last but not least is Adelaide, in South Australia. There is a once in a lifetime chance to join a morning cruise where globetrotters can swim with dolphins, with 3 or 4 swims with different pods. Whilst in Adelaide don’t miss the opportunity to visit Kangaroo Island, just a few short hours from Adelaide this island is one of the last true wilderness areas and is known as Australia’s Galapagos, with rugged cliffs, roaring surf, pristine beaches, protected coves and an abundance of unique Australian flora and fauna.
