Dolphins, Sharks and Whales DOWNUNDER!

Dolphins and whales are fascinating creatures and interaction with these beautiful animals is definitely on the wish list of many Globetrotters. The east coast of Australia is a great spot for whale watching.  Humpback whales migrate from Antarctica through to the Whitsundays and some as far up as Cairns from May through November. According to experts, the journey takes up to half a year to complete and ends when the whales need to give birth.  Some of the best areas to see whales are Fraser Island, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine coast.

Monkey Mia is midway up the West Australian coast in the heard of the Shark Bay World Heritage area. The beach at Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort has attracted schools of dolphins daily for over 40 years and in the last 5 years there have only been 4 days that they decided to take a break and not show up! Whilst in Adelaide don’t miss the opportunity to visit Kangaroo Island, just a few short hours from Adelaide this island is one of the last true wilderness areas and is known as Australia’s Galapagos, with rugged cliffs, roaring surf, pristine beaches, protected coves and an abundance of unique Australian flora and fauna.
