Your trip to France begins in Bayeux, the medieval town that’ll serve as your base while exploring Normandy. On your first day in Normandy, explore the highlights of Bayeux itself on a private walking tour of the town. You’ll see the Norman Gothic Cathedral and stroll through the beautiful neighbourhoods of timber-framed homes and Renaissance mansions. In your free time, be sure to see the Bayeux Tapestry, an 11th-century artefact depicting William the Conqueror’s invasion of England in 1066. The next day, explore the history of World War II with a guided tour of the Caen Memorial Museum, Pointe du Hoc, and Omaha Beach, as well as the American war cemeteries. On your final day in Normandy, head to nearby Mont Saint Michel, the breathtaking island abbey that becomes an isolated pillar out of the water during high tide. Tour the abbey complex, listen to medieval Gregorian chants, and bathe in the glorious view of this medieval landmark.
At the end of your stay, head to the train station to continue your onward journey.

Small Group Mont Saint Michel excursion
Enjoy a small group excursion and discover the fascinating Mont Saint Michel. This unique site is located on an island in the middle of a huge bay which is heavily influenced by Europe biggest tides. The first monastery was replaced by a Benedictine Abbey in the 10th Century where the monks prayed and welcomed the pilgrims coming to adorn the archangel, in order to earn their right to go to heaven. The builder monks never stopped adding constructions century after century until they were chased away by the French Revolution in 1791. The magnificent abbey then became a prison! In 1864, it was added on the list of French Historic Monuments, and it was restored before being opened to visitors. Visitors will be fascinted by the Abbey's architecture, suspended between earth and heaven and the beauty of the rooms, the Cloister and the Church. There is a breathtaking view from the top that is worth the number of steps you have to come up! Your expert guide will let you understand the symbolism of the architecture as you go through the different rooms. You might meet one of the monks of the new community who settled here a few years ago, and hear their Gregorian Chants vibrating in the church at the time of the mass. Your guide will also take you through the narrow cobbled streets around the village, with granite or half-timbered houses. Wander along the top of the fortification wall, built during the Hundred Years War, when Mont St Michel became a medieval castle.
