Best Time to Visit Chile
Chile has three tourist seasons. The high season is November to February. This is when Patagonia is at its best and its warmest. If heading to the beaches, they will be crowded. The shoulder season from September to October and March to May is, temperature-wise, the best time to be in the Lakes District. The wine regions have wine festivals in March. A good time to visit the Atacama Desert is in the low season from June to August. Santiago is pleasant any time of the year. The Atacama Desert has sunny weather year-round but at nighttime, temperatures drop severely. The summer months can be extremely hot. You can expect Patagonia to be generally rainy all year round. In the winter, many services shut down and passes become impenetrable.
