Social Conventions

Shaking hands is the most common form of greeting in Estonia. The people of Estonia tend to be quite reserved, soft-spoken and polite but are incredibly proud of their cultural identity and this should be respected. 

 

Language

The official language of Estonia is Estonian, however, the older generations still speak some German. There is also a minority of Swedish speakers in the country.

 

Religion

Estonia is considered one of the least religious countries in Europe with more than 71% of the population identifying as non-religious. Lutheran Christian and Orthodox Christian are minority religions.
