Mauritius is a small island nation in the Indian Ocean off the coast of East Africa. Unlike nearby Seychelles, Mauritius is one large island, which makes it easy to navigate. The mainland consists of lush subtropical forests and volcanic craters while the waters are home to the world’s third-largest coral reef.
