Classic Northern Italy: Milan, Venice, Florence

Duration
10 Days
Prices From:
AU$ 5,028

FIRST-CLASS | TAILOR-MADE: Discover the artistic masterworks of Italy’s north on this trip to Milan, Venice, and Florence. Stay in first-class accommodations as you venture through the cities to gaze upon world-famous paintings, admire Renaissance architecture, and enjoy the charming Italian culture.

This 10-day Italian vacation takes you to popular cities in the north of the country, including Milan, Venice, and Florence. It features first-class accommodations and a mix of private and small group tours.

Your journey begins in Milan, which may lack the flashy, postcard appeal of some Italian cities, but still charms with its architectural masterpieces and culinary culture. A grand tour of the city will take you to Sforza Castle and the Duomo, perhaps the most striking Gothic cathedral in Italy, before window shopping the famous shopping arcade of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Swing by the Opera House and then skip the line at the Santa Maria dell Grazie to see da Vinci’s famous “The Last Supper.” The following day, get out of the city and explore Lake Como. You’ll tour the historic town, cruise across the waters, and visit Bellagio, one of the lake’s most attractive villages.

Ride the train to Venice, the world-famous canal city where you’ll enjoy a private walking tour of classic city sights, including St. Mark’s Square and its Byzantine basilica, the birthplace of Marco Polo, and the Rialto Bridge, which unites the city from atop the Grand Canal. That afternoon, enjoy the quintessential Venetian experience of a gondola ride along the canals. Sit back and allow an expert gondolier to show you the city from the water, weaving along narrow canals and hidden corners of the city. While based in Venice, you’ll also head to nearby Verona and Amarone to learn about the stories behind Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and enjoy a wine tasting of celebrated vintages.

Continue on the train to Florence where you’ll uncover the legacy of the Renaissance. Few cities reward those who travel by foot better than Florence, so head on a walking tour to see some of the magnificent Renaissance buildings constructed by the Medici family. You’ll see the famous Duomo with its cupola, cross Pontevecchio Bridge, and tour the Accademia Gallery, where you’ll lay eyes on Michelangelo’s masterpiece, “David.” On your final day in the city, you’ll enjoy the fresh air and Tuscan countryside on a Vespa tour through olive groves, vineyards, and medieval townships.

At the end of your stay, connect to the airport to head back home.

Walk in Florence + Meet David

A pleasant walk in Florence is just what you need to be introduced to the city and its splendor and secular heritage! Get the chance to have a taste of one of the most important and charming cities of UNESCO World Heritage. Walk through the amazing center of Florence and discover its unique secular heritage and breathtaking beauty with an expert and fun tour guide. Our tour explores the historic and architectural evolution factors from the Roman foundation through medieval centuries and its Renaissance glorious period up to modern time Florence. Learn about the Medici: masters of Florence. The Medici family rose to become famous and revered throughout the Western world in the 14th and 15th Century. The Medici came to power at a time of great social and economic inequality. They were great disrupters. Their banking practices led to the creation of a middle class, making them unimaginably wealthy. The Medici in turn used their vast power and resources to challenge traditional thinking, ushering in a new era of revolutionary art and science such as the world had never seen: the Renaissance. It's a powerful story that resonates even now. Our professional guide will take you to some of the most important spots where the greatest minds and artists have stood and been inspired. During this walk, you will see Piazza della Signoria with the town hall Palazzo Vecchio, the Duomo, the Baptistery with its 'Gates of Paradise', Giotto's independent bell tower, Brunelleschi's Dome, Santa Trinita and Orsanmichele Church, Pontevecchio Bridge and the secret Vasari Corridor, as well as famous shopping streets and the Oltrarno -- the fourth and last district, the manual crafts neighbourhood. Also, stop for a surprise "tasting", a nice and delicious break during your pleasant walk.
Tour also includes the visit to Accademia Gallery
