DELUXE | TAILOR MADE: Joie de vivre lives in the city of Montréal. Experience many of its cosmopolitan highlights during a city tour and discover more of the province’s French heritage on a full day excursion to Québec City. Montréal is rightly famous for many things, its unique shopping opportunities, splendid museums, a vibrant culinary scene, fabulous cafés, bars, bistros, and jazz clubs and, of course, charming historic neighbourhoods, especially the narrow cobblestone streets of Old Montréal.

Montreal Experience

This 4-day trip plunges you into the cosmopolitan heart of Montreal, French-Canada’s largest city and bustling hub of arts and culture. Wander the city’s colourful neighbourhoods, taking in the European-influenced architecture and gothic cathedrals of its picturesque Old Town. Enjoy a half-day guided motorcoach tour of central Montreal, as well as deluxe accommodations for all three nights in the city. For the full Francophone experience, you’ll travel on a day excursion to historic Quebec City and the adjacent Montmorency Falls.

Your experience of Montreal will differ depending on the time of year you visit. In summer, expect non-stop arts and music festivals that take over parks and entire city blocks, with tons of picnicking opportunities and patio drinks to go around. That doesn’t mean Montreal’s energy dies in winter, but rather moves inside to its many atmospheric bars, underground music venues, and sprawling galleries as snow graces the sidewalks outside. Get a fresh dose of nature right in the city by climbing Mont Royal, offering you a view over the financial district and the tree-lined streets below.

There are plenty of international dining options throughout the city, which can be considered Canada’s culinary capital. There are the classic MTL institutions, like the juicy smoked meat sandwiches at Schwartz’s Deli or poutine and its many variations from La Banquise, but also a diverse range of flavours that you won’t find elsewhere in the country. You can of course expect French influences, but you won’t want to miss out on eateries representative of the city’s immigrant populations, hailing most notably from the Caribbean, Portugal, Northern Africa, and South and East Asia.

Montreal bagels are perhaps the city’s greatest success story, and deserve to be in a food category of their own. There’s plenty of bagel cafes offering you options to eat in or take away, whether you choose to top yours with smoked salmon or grab a bag of six to go. Fairmont and St-Viateur face off as the city’s most popular bagel stops, but there are plenty of other places scattered throughout the neighborhoods of Le Plateau and Mile End.

Let yourself be whisked away on a whirlwind excursion to Quebec City, whose historic centre was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site as the only fortified city north of Mexico. You’ll walk along the ancient city walls with an expert tour guide, who is well-acquainted with the stories that lie within its stones, taking you to highlights like the Upper and Lower Towns, Plains of Abraham, the Citadel, Notre Dame Basilica, and famous Chateau Frontenac, the world’s most photographed hotel towering over the shores of the St. Lawrence River. Enjoy a trip out to the pristine Montmorency Falls, whose waters tower 30 meters higher than Niagara Falls before plunging into the abyss below.

Your tour comes to an end after a final night in Montreal, where you’ll have the choice to continue on exploring Francophone Canada or transfer to the airport for your flight home.
