Alesund is a town and a seaport located on the west coast of Norway about 230 kilometres/145 miles north of Bergen and adjacent to the Geirangerfjord. It is noted for its concentration on Art Nouveau architecture to be enjoyed on a Norway vacation.

On top of the Town Mountain is the viewpoint of Aksla. From there, there is a panoramic view of the archipelago, the beautiful town centre, and the outstanding Sunnmore Alps. Aksla can be reached by walking up the 418 steps or taking the City Train. At the top, there is an outdoor restaurant, a café and a platform from which to enjoy the view.

The Alnes Lighthouse lies on the island of Godoy. The lighthouse dates back to 1876 and is a protected relic of Norwegian coastal culture. There are interesting historical exhibitions to experience on tours of Norway. By ascending the steep steps up to the top of the lighthouse, you can have a striking view of the ocean and coastline.

The Norwegian Centre of Art Nouveau Architecture is situated in Alesund. It is a museum that tells the story of the fire which destroyed the town in 1904 and Art Nouveau in Norway as well as Europe. The Sunnmore Museum is an outdoor folk museum devoted to the Norwegian coastal culture and way of life. It has more than 55 old and unique houses from the past 300 years which have been moved to the site with replicas of old Viking ships and artifacts from excavations of an old trading centre.

The Wildlife Sea Safari is a two-hour cruise which goes along the coastline outside Alesund in a high-speed boat. The route depends on the weather but usually includes a visit to a seal colony and bird colonies with eagles and puffins.
