This six day, first-class, self drive vacation gets you off the beaten path in Spain and into the heart of Basque country. Enjoy the art and culture of Bilbao before escaping to Spain’s less explored northern coast on the Bay of Biscay
The city of Bilbao is a popular getaway for both locals and tourists. The highlight here is the Guggenheim Museum. Even those who lack enthusiasm for modern architecture will be impressed by the unique and contemporary design of this building that hosts some of Europe’s most striking modern art. Evening brings the chance to stroll through the old town at your own pace and sample local food and pubs.
The village of Vitoria is an hour drive outside of Bilbao. Once you arrive in this medieval town you can opt to enjoy a guided city tour or simply wander around this basque capital, famous for its Rioja wine.
Head inland for two nights in Pamplona. This city is of course popular with thrill seekers for the annual running of the bulls but it also offers a rich nightlife and atmospheric narrow streets to lose yourself in. A quick jaunt to San Sebastian takes in fantastic sea views and the chance to dine at one of 11 Michelin Star restaurants
Your final day will be a return to Bilbao airport for your flight home or to continue your journey.

Bilbao - Vitoria - Bilbao
Today take a drive to the nearby city of Vitoria. Approximately 1 hour away from Bilbao, Vitoria is the capital city of the Basque region and known for its exceptional urban design and medieval city centre. Be sure to visit the Santa Maria Cathedral located at the top of the hill in the old town. This stunning example of medieval architecture can be visited independently or taken on a guided tour. While you are there, taste some of Spain's most famous wine, Rioja!

Bilbao - Vizcaya Bridge - Pamplona
Say goodbye to Bilbao and head towards the Bay of Biscay to discover beautiful coastal towns and the Vizcaya Bridge, a UNESCO Heritage site. The Vizcaya or Bizkaia Bridge opened in 1893, designed by architect, Alberto Palacio, an apprentice of Gustav Eiffel. Commonly referred to as the Hanging Bridge, it was a transporter bridge connected two banks of the Nervion Estuaray. Today, there are three ways to visit the bridge and cross the estuary: pedestrian walkway, gondola and boat. Head further north to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a picturesque islet on the coast of Biscay, also the setting for the series, Game of Thrones. Walk along the stone bridge and the 241-set staircase for spectacular views. Next stop is the town of Guernica, made famous by Pablo Picasso's painting. At the end of the day, drive to Pamplona, the place of the world-renowned running of the bulls festival!

In the afternoon, drive to San Sebastian, once a popular vacation destination for Spanish Kings in the 20th century. San Sebastian is known for its elegant French-inspired architecture, fine beaches and a top destination for foodies, boasting 11 Michelin starred restaurants! Enjoy the day at your own pace.
