Costa Brava Tours & Vacation Packages

The Costa Brava is located in the northeast of Spain on the Mediterranean Sea, stretching 300 kilometres/180 miles from due north of Barcelona, and 60 kilometres/37 miles away from the French border. It is an area of natural beauty with excellent sandy beaches and a mountainous backdrop perfect for Spain holidays or an extension to a stay in Barcelona. Costa Brava translates as Rugged Coast and the coastline will surprise you with the beauty of its superb beaches and attractive coves nestled among cliffs. There is a large selection of resorts from which to choose.

Tossa de Mar, Costa Brava, Spain

Tossa de Mar curves around a bay with a headland of defensive medieval walls and towers. A picturesque village, it consists of crooked, narrow cobblestone streets traversing its old town plus stunning, panoramic cliff-top views. It was once a haven for artists and writers.

Lloret de Mar, Spain

Lloret de Mar is situated in the southern part of the Costa Brava and is one of the most popular resorts, certainly the liveliest due to its nightlife. This former fishing village has five main beaches spread out along a 7-kilometre/4 mile stretch of coastline. There is also a large casino, the largest on the Costa Brava.

Blanes, Girona, Spain

Blanes is a different type of resort on trips to Spain, somewhat smaller and less commercial. However, there is still plenty of nightlife and entertainment.  It is known for its many ex-pats who make their home here. It has excellent sandy beaches, in fact, 4 kilometres/2.5 miles of beaches. There is also an old town with some medieval houses, squares and churches.  Because it still remains a working fishing town, one of the resort’s top attractions is the lively fish market held every evening in the harbour.

Calella de Palafrugell, Spain

Calella de Palafrugell is an attractive uncommercial resort, known for its rocky coves, sandy beaches and excellent fish restaurants. The whitewashed buildings of Calella, the southernmost part of Palafrugell are strung around a bay of rocky points and small, pretty beaches on which fishing boats are hauled up onto the sand. There are some beautiful botanical gardens worth visiting on a holiday to Spain.

Roses on Costa Brava, Catalonia, Spain

Roses is located in a unique, natural environment in the northern area of the Costa Brava. Apart from having the most attractive and least crowded beaches, it is a modern town, which is culturally active with excellent shopping, restaurants, bars, beaches, nightlife and sporting facilities. There is an outstanding Water Fun Park where you can skydive, boat and sail. There is horse riding nearby and bird watching in the extensive wetlands. For golfers, Roses has 6 top-class courses within easy driving distance.

Tamariu bay, Costa Brava, Catalonia, Spain

Tamariu is a picturesque coastal village situated in a beautiful bay with a pine-clad backdrop.  The sandy cove of Tamariu has the most wonderful crystal-clear waters, some of the purest on the coastline. It is also a popular diving site on Spain holidays due to the many caves along the submerged mountainside

S’Agaro is an elegant beach resort in an old town with a preserved medieval charm. The town has many boutiques and makes for a great shopping location. The main beach is a long stretch of beautiful sand and there are many sandy coves and rocky areas to explore.

Inland from the Costa Brava, on a trip to Spain, are 2 interesting and attractive towns. Girona (also known as Gerona in Castilian Spanish) has a beautiful historic Jewish quarter, narrow cobblestone streets and a large number of museums. The old cathedral is an excellent example of Catalan Gothic architecture. There are old fortifications dating back to Roman times, the walls of which can be walked on in their entirety.  Independence Square is one of the most frequented places in Girona with interesting architecture and cafes and restaurants. The city has a number of Art Nouveau buildings. Figueres is the birthplace of the artist, Salvador Dali and home to his colourful museum. In the case of this museum, seeing is believing and one can spend a few hours enjoyably taking in all the extraordinary works of art. There is also a fortress and a pleasant shopping street.
